Lassa Fever Kills Pregnant Woman, Two Doctors In Kano
The Kano State government has confirmed the outbreak of Lassa fever in the state with three victims killed.
 
The State Commissioner for Health,  Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, told journalists on Wednesday that the victims of the virus include a pregnant woman and two medical doctors, who diagnosed her at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
 
Tsanyawa said a press briefing was necessary to keep the public abreast of the situation and give necessary information about the disease.
 
he added that about three hundred people are under surveillance to watch out against Lassa fever symptoms adding that they are people who came in contact with those who died of the dreaded fever recently. He warned against poor sanitation and the consumption of food exposed to rodents especially rats. 
 
The Kano health officer said because Lassa fever symptoms are not exclusive to the fever no one is under quarantine in the state but only under the health ministry watch
