Ebonyi Governor Against Boko Haram Prisioners In South East

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi has highlighted the decision of the Governors in the North East, who are against the transfer of some suspected Boko Haram suspects into the region by the federal government.

Speaking in Abeokuta during a courtesy visit to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his Abeokuta Hill Top mansion, Umahi stated that it was wrong for anyone to believe that Boko Haram has been flushed out of the North East following the series of activities of the insurgents in the recent times with the attendant lost of  innocent lives and destruction of both public and private properties.

He maintained that the entire Governors in the South East rejected the idea of harboring Boko Haram suspects in some prisons in the South East by the federal government noting that such action would constitute a serious danger for peaceful co-existence in the region.

While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts towards correcting some anomalies in the polity, the Governor of Ebonyi state said the intervention and the decision taken by Buhari on matter affecting the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation was a bold initiative that would revamp the country's economy.

In his remark, the former President Olusegun Obasanjo commended the Governor and his predecessor for the peace that has continued to reign in the state.
