3 Travellers Abducted in Delta Community

Three inter-state travellers have been abducted at Olomu community in Ughelli south local government area of Delta state after they were ambushed in their SUV by suspected herdsmen along the link road leading to the Bayelsa axis of East/West road.

The community vigilante group who mobilized to the forests in the early hours of the morning rescued one of the victims who is being kept under protective custody by the police in Ughelli. 

Speaking to Galaxy news after rescuing one of the three victims, the Chairman of the vigilante group who led the operation said they could not withstand the superior firepower of the suspected herdsmen but were lucky to rescue one.

He spoke on their challenges in confronting suspected herdsmen in the forest while calling on stakeholders for support.

Meanwhile, the Delta state police commissioner Hafiz Inuwa who confirmed the abduction to Galaxy news, said efforts are on to rescue the victims as he commended the efforts of the vigilante group whom he said are working closely with the police in reducing crime in the state.
