Buhari in closed door meeting with govs, security chiefs

President Muhammadu Buhari is at the moment meeting with governors, both former and serving, as well as the service chief to thrash out ways of containing insecurity in the country.


The meeting which commenced at eleven o’clock is being chaired by the president himself.

The Governors arrived the seat of power early Friday morning is expected to give an individual report on the security situation in his state.

The meeting is coming barely a week twenty-nine states inaugurated their new governors.

Insecurity in the country had persisted despite several measures employed by the federal government to eliminate insurgency and end terrorism.

Today’s meeting is however expected to proffer more urgent solutions to the security situation and the government's fight against corruption among other government policies.

State governors at the meeting are Adamawa – Ahmadu Fintiri, Borno – Babagana Zulum, Taraba -Darius Ishaku, Kebbi – Atiku Bagudu, Delta – Ifeanyi Okowa and Sokoto – Aminu Tambuwal.

Others are Imo – Emeka Ihedioha, Ebonyi – Dave Umahi, Kogi – Yahaya Bello, Yobe – Mai Malabuni, Enugu – Ifeanyi Ugwanyi, Gombe – Inuwa Yahaya, Ekiti – Fayemi, and Lagos – Babajide Sanwo-Olu.among many others.

The meeting was still in progress at the time of filing this report.
