Shop owners at the popular club road in Awka, the Anambra State capital have accused the State Government of high-handedness and insensitivity.

This is coming on the heels of the recent demolition carried out by the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority.

The shop owners, while speaking to newsmen admitted that they were issued with Notices asking them to vacate their various premises.

They, however, blamed the timing of the demolition as most of them were just trying to pick up their lives after the lockdown.

In his reaction however, the Managing Director of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority ACTDA said the exercise was done in good faith in order to safeguard the lives of inhabitants of those shanties, most of which are located directly under the high tension cable.
