Disguised blind beggar apprehended in the Ikorodu

An alleged fake blind beggar, Abdullahi Abbas, has been apprehended in the Ikorodu area of Lagos state, yesterday August 21.


Abdullah confessed to making between N5,500 and N8,000 daily just by disguising as a beggar.

It was reported that the suspect is always led by a 12-year-old boy to beg for alms every day at the First Gate and Odogunyan area of Ikorodu.

Unfortunately to the disguised begger, he was apprehended after an inquisitive resident, Adeoye Baliks, engaged him in a conversation that made her raise an eyebrow.

Baliks then raised an alarm and the man was examined by passersby and it was discovered that he was not blind.

However, when interrogated, it was discovered that Abdullahi is from Oyo state, said to belongs to a group of beggars who feign various types of deformity just to get people's empathy, in order to get money from them.

The mob were in the process of lynching him, when he ( Abdullahi) was rescued by the vigilante group members, who then handed him over to the police in Sagamu.
