EFCC Arraigns NULGE Boss over Alleged N9M Fraud in Benue
The Makurdi zonal office of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned one Elizabeth Akaa before Justice M. A. Ikpambese of the Benue State High Court sitting in Makurdi.
 
Elizabeth Akaa was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on breach of trust, dishonesty, and misappropriation of Nine Million Naira belonging to the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employee, Guma Chapter.
 
According to the charge: Elizabeth Akaa was entrusted with a sum of 27 Million Naira and ninety-Seven Naira between 2016 and 2018 as chairman of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee, Guma chapter.
 
Mrs. Akaa, as the then chairman of the National Union of Local Government (NULGE) Guma LGA, was petitioned by a concerned staff of the council alleging her of diverting monies belonging to diseased staff into her daughter's account.
 
EFCC said the offense committed is punishable under section 313 of the Penal Code Law of Benue (CAP)124 (Revised Edition) Laws of Benue State 2004".
 
She has been remanded at the correctional facility in Makurdi by Justice Ikpambese pending the perfection of her bail condition of 500 thousand Naira and a surety in like sum as the case was adjourned till March 25, 2020, for trial.
