Eid: Makinde Sues for Peaceful Coexistence among Residents

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared that an attempt by the opposition party to distract the present administration in Oyo state through the religious crisis has proved unsuccessful.

Makinde who made the disclosure while receiving his Deputy Engr Rauf Olaniyan and other Muslim faithful at his Ikolaba residence appreciated people for the support given to his administration in the last 2 years.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that The Governor said despite plans by the opposition to distract his administration through religious crisis, the people of Oyo state stood by him.

He said, “I want to congratulate all Muslims and other residents of Oyo State. What we need at this moment is a unity of purpose, whether you are Christian or Muslim, we must learn to tolerate ourselves and live together in peace. Let us continue to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan and should always reflect on our actions and endeavour.”

Governor Makinde also clarified issues circulating on social media about the appointment of New Judges in the state promising that he will continue to govern the state with the fear of God and give priority to the welfare of people through various developmental Programmes.

“He said further that, “I was shocked when I heard people saying I am against one candidate or the other because of religion, this is unfounded. All my appointments had been on the principle of equity and fairness. I demanded for the names of all the candidates that participated in the interview without any recourse to their religious affiliations. What am after is fairness and justice despite the fact that am an advocate of good performance.”

The Governor also wished the Muslim faithfuls a happy Eid-li-Fitri Celebration.
