Ekiti govt to commence dredging of waterways

As part of efforts to reduce excessive flooding that sacked many residents of the state, the Ekiti state government said it has approved the sum of 334 million Naira for the dredging of rivers and waterways in the state.

Some sections of the state capital, Ado Ekiti and other towns were ravaged by flood during heavy rainfall in 2019.

Ekiti state commissioner for information, tourism and Values orientation, Muyiwa Olumilua made the disclosure while addressing newsmen at the end of the state executive council meeting.

He said the state government also gave approval for the procurement of save delivery kits to pregnant women in all local government in the state.

Olumilua said the dredging is to alleviate the suffering of inhabitants of the state in areas affected by flood.
