Ekiti VC tasks FG on anti-graft drive

In view of current anti-corruption cases against some varsity heads across the country, the federal government has been urged to focus the searchlight of its anti-corruption fight on the tertiary education sector including universities across the country.

The Vice Chancellor of the Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Ado Ekiti, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele, made the call during a chat with newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital.

Professor Bandele said the recent trial of some varsity bosses across the country over various misappropriation acts exposes the rot in the sector maintaining that the Buhari administration must employ a stiffer security scrutiny for prospective nominees for the management of Nigerian universities before their appointments are ratified.

Meanwhile, the wife of the Governor of Ekiti state, Feyisetan Fayose, has also called on educational institutions in the country to look for new means to shore up their revenue base in view of current economic trends in the country.

The Ekiti state first lady who commissioned a N70-million Water factory built by the Ekiti state university, EKSU described the entrepreneurial policy of the institution as outstanding.
