Herdsmen kill five in fresh attack in Benue

Five persons have been said to have been killed on Sunday, May 20, in the Logo local government area of Benue state after suspected herdsmen militia attacked the community.

The herdsmen were said to have attacked the community during the late hours of Sunday, killing five persons and leaving several others injured.

Chairman of the local government, Richard Nyajo, in a telephone conversation with reporters in Mkurdi, revealed that the herdsmen stormed the village at about 9 pm, unleashed mayhem on most people who were still out trading.

He said several others sustained various degrees of injury during the attack.

According to him, the attackers were said to have withdrawn through Arugu, a village close to Anyiin.

He said some bank ATM cards were discovered which will be given as evidence to security personnel to investigate, saying they are 10 ATM cards in number.

The chairman, however, said soldiers in the area went after the attackers stating the corpses have been deposited as well as the injured persons at the General Hospital in Anyiiin.
