INEC expresses dismay about 2023 polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission has expressed concern about the sanctity of the 2013 general elections.


The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo State, Barrister Mutiu Agboke and the Head of Department, General Administration and Procurement, INEC Osun State, Niyi Opadiran while speaking with Journalists after a football match in Ibadan tasked politicians and other Nigerians to refrain from violence.

The football match between officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Oyo and Osun States was organized to educate politicians and other Nigerians on the need to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.

Although the match was won by the team from Osun State, the organizers emphasized the need for credible, free and fair elections in Nigeria.

Speaking with journalists after the match, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo State, Barrister Mutiu Agboke decried the spate of violence that marred the Governorship elections in Kofi and Bayelsa States saying the Commission is always ready to organize credible elections in Nigeria.

Barrister Agboke revealed that the electoral body would continue to give a level playing ground to all parties in the state calling for the support of all and sundry.

On the issue of violence, Barrister Agboke and Head of Department, General Administration and Procurement, INEC Osun State, Niyi Opadiran stressed the need for continuous sensitization of all electorate on the need to eschew violence and other forms of malpractices.

They urged politicians and their supporters to continue to operate in compliance with the provision of the electoral act.
