Makinde Denies Strain Relationship with Olubadan

Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared that he has no issue or any misunderstanding with the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

Makinde who made the disclosure when he led some members of his cabinet to the palace of Olubadan stated that there have been insinuations that there are misgivings between him and Olubadan.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the Governor said he could not attend the last birthday of the monarch due to a party assignment, noting that this does not suggest any form of strain relationship between him and the monarch.

He declared that he hold the stool of Olubadan in high esteem and would not support any act that will desecrate the stool.

The governor said, “I want to make it clear here that there is no misunderstanding between me and kabiyesi Olubadan, that am not here during his last birthday does not suggest that we are fighting.

“People have been saying all sorts of things on this matter. It is clear to all and sundry that I am out of town during his birthday for a party assignment. So Olubadan is still my father and I will accord him all due respect.

Responding, Oba Adetunji thanked Governor and his cabinet for the visit stressing that there is no misgiving between him and adding that people should desist spreading rumour that could lead to crisis.
