A total of six people have been confirmed dead in a fatal road crash which occurred along upper Iweka road in the commercial city of  Onitsha.

The accident which involved seven vehicles was said to have started when a Mack Trailer with registration number UMA259XB carrying a 20ft container, failed brakes and fell on other vehicles and tricycles.

A total of ten people, 8 male adults and 2 female adults were involved in the crash. The victims were rushed to Toronto Hospital, Onitsha by the FRSC rescue team out of which Six of them (5males and 1 female) were confirmed dead.

The other four people were critically injured but responding to treatment.

Corpses of the dead have been deposited at the Toronto Hospital morgue.
