Ogun demolishes 400 structures!

About 360-400 structures have been demolished by the Ogun state government, under the leadership of Governor Ibikunle Amosun.


The demolition, according to the state government was part of the efforts to curtail the security challenges facing the state.

The state commissioner for urban and regional planning,  Ronke Shokefun while monitoring the exercise  at  the Sagamu end of the Ore-Sagamu expressway says indiscriminate trailer parking and erection of shanties remain a crime punishable under the state laws.

She says the development is to reduce impunity at which people erect illegal structures across the state.

Shops and shanties owners in a last minutes effort to salvage some of their wares as the officials of the ministry and caterpillar pulled down about 360 shanties in the state.

The move according to the commissioner would help reduce the rate of criminal activities across the state. The commissioner maintained that the move was imperative in order to bring sanity back into the state.

She promised those concerned, of government readiness and desire to relocate them to another place where is being worked upon by the government for their use.

However, she appealed to the traders concerned to cooperate with government in this direction as government will no longer treat with kid glove any impunity against the environment.
