Protesting oil community denies boat abduction

Protesting youths, women and elders of Kolokolo community in the border towns of Delta and Edo states have denied kidnapping crew members and tug boat belonging to oil multinational Sahara formerly Nigerian Petroleum Development Company.

This is coming barely six days after masquerades led the community and two of their neighbours on a peaceful protest over marginalization, as protesters sleep in the creeks to intensify the protest.

Addressing journalists on top of the tug boat alleged to have been abducted as women cook for them, the community youth chairman and a community leader denied the allegation.

He stressed that they will not relent until their demands are met as our correspondent summarizes the exercise from day one.
