Sokoto Travellers Arrested in Oyo Test Positive to COVID-19

Four out of the 11 travellers arrested by officers of the Oyo state police command on Saturday for violating the law on restriction of inter-state movements have tested positive to COVID-19.

Recall that the travellers from Gabadawa village in Sokoto state were arrested at Asejire, a border community between Oyo and Osun states.

They were subjected to COVID-19 test which was conducted by officials from the Ministry of Health while Governor Seyi Makinde ordered that they should be isolated pending the outcome of the result.

Confirming the result, the Incident Manager for COVID-19 in the state, Dr. Bode Ladipo says three of the travellers have been moved to the Disease Infectious centre in Olodo while the fourth person is at Agbami Chest Hospital, Jericho for necessary medical attention.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control had announced five new cases of COVID-19 in Oyo state while the total number of cases in the state is 38.
