South-east governors to proscribe IPOB

In the view of the prevailing security situation in the south-east and its attendant consequences, the southeast governors has resolved to proscribe the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) group operating in the zone.


They submitted that the people of the zone are so committed to the unity of the country, promised to champion project that will uphold and defend the collective integrity of the country.

This was their resolution at an emergency South East Governors meeting help at the Government house in Enugu.

Reading the 10 point communiqués at the end of the emergency session of the south east governors forum at the instance of the deputy senate president, Senator Ekweremadu, the governors resolved that IPOB seizes to be a legal social group that would be given free hand to operate in the south east.

Amon g other resolutions in their communiqué were their appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw the military sent to the zone, affirmed that the Anambra state governorship election must hold in November 18, advised IPOB to articulate their position on all national issues and submit to the committee of governors.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo and National Assembly Members from the zone however reinforce their commitment to a united and indivisible Nigeria.

Also buttress the need for the renewed call on their desire for the restructuring of Nigeria where all national issues will be discussed and amicably settled to achieve justice and fairness to every Nigerian.
