A tragedy was averted in the Bayelsa community of Azikoro which is a suburb in Yenagoa local government area of the state, as a diesel laden truck veered off the road and injured five persons in a relaxation spot and a barber shop.

The incident which left most residents scampering for safety led to the rescue of victims who were rushed to the hospital.

Speaking on the accident, a community chief and one of the victim’s family member narrated the near tragedy incident.

Some residents also gave an eye witness account of the accident which they said left five persons seriously injured.

Meanwhile, men of the Bayelsa police command have visited the site with a promise to remove the truck, while the injured were said to be responding to treatment as at the time of filing this report.
