Benue Supplementary Election: Chris Adaji of PDP Returned Winner
Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Benue state has declared Christopher Adaji of the people's Democratic, PDP as the winner in the Ohimini state constituency election.
 
Declaring the result at the INEC office in Idekpa, the Returning officer, professor Nicodemus Agbulu said Christopher Adaji of the PDP scored six thousand seven hundred and forty-two votes to defeat his rival Musa Alichenu of the APC who scored six thousand three hundred and forty-one votes.
 
According to the returning officer, total registered votes stood at forty-one thousand four hundred and twenty-seven, accredited votes seventeen thousand, four hundred and seventy-four while total vote cast was sixteen thousand nine hundred and eighty-four with four hundred and seventeen votes rejected.
 
Results of the supplementary election showed that APC scored one thousand six hundred and twenty-two votes while PDP scored one thousand five hundred and ten votes.
 
In an interview with Resident Electoral Commissioner, Engineer Nentawe Yiltwada, who expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election says there is room for improvement if the electoral law can be amended and with more voter education.
 
Meanwhile, the APC candidate Musa Alechenue of the APC expressed disappointment over the conduct of election however alleged the PDP of vote-buying. But Chris Adaji of the PDP, debunk the allegation while thanking God for the victory he promised his constituent adequate representation and hailed INEC and security agencies for a good job
