Court Stops PDP from Conducting Congresses In Kano

A Federal High in Kano has granted an interim order stopping the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, from conducting local government and state congresses to elect party executives.

The presiding judge, Justice Lewis Allagoa also restrains the inspector general of police and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from partaking in or endorsing the congresses until the final determination of the suit filed by one Ali Baffa and two others for being excluded from the ward congress of the party.

The judge added that the parties joined in the suit failed to show “cause why the order should not be granted”.

The matter has been adjourned to September 22 for hearing in the substantive motions.
