Hugo Broos threatens to dump Cameroon

Cameroon Coach, Hugo Broos says he would be forced to abandon the African champions if his seven months wages totaling 315,000 euros (about N122.9 million) were not settled before the Indomitable Lions’ Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in August.

Broos said at a press conference on Tuesday after Cameroon’s 1-2 loss to Guinea in an international friendly that he would have no option than to quit his position owing to poor working conditions and lack of funding.

Apart from Broos’ wages, there are issues on the players’ welfare, including allegations that basic amenities, including adequate diet, are not provided the team..

“I will reflect on my future. Because if players who prepare for a game and do not have their meal at noon, while people sit for 10 days in their chairs and do not give a damn, that cannot be accepted.”

Cameroon has drawn their first two games in the World Cup qualifiers – against Algeria and Zambia – and will trail Nigeria by seven points if they lose to the Super Eagles in the next round.
