Oyo: NURTW Chief Charged For Murder

Few days after Mukaila Lamidi (a.k.a Auxiliary) was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command on alleged gun running charges, the Oyo State Police Command yesterday took him to court on two count charge of murder and felony.

Mukaila Lamidi was a former factional leader of the Oyo State branch ofthe National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) who was declared wanted alongside another factional leader and veteran NURTW chieftain, Alhaji Lateef Akinsola (a.k.a Tokyo) three years ago, following June 5, 2011, killings at Iwo Road, Ibadan where a 500 Level medical student from the North, among others were murdered in cold blood.

At the Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Auxiliary was arraigned on a two-count charge of murder and felony.

Inspector Banujoh Samson, the prosecutor said Auxiliary and others at large had on March 2 at about 10.p.m. at Mustard Filling Station, Iwo Road, Ibadan did conspire with others still at large to commit felony and murder.

He also said Auxiliary and others at large on the same date, time, place, did cause the death of one Adekule Oladipupo by shooting him with a gun.

The  offences are said to be contrary to and punishable under sections 319 and 324 of the criminal code of the state.

After the charges were read to him, Auxiliary pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Magistrate O.K Omotosho did not however take his plea and ordered that he should be remanded in Agodi prison custody while he adjourned the case to June 18.
