Flood takes over Warri streets

Flood takes over Warri streets

Tens of streets and over a hundred homes in the Warri south local government area of Delta state have been flooded after the early morning downpour of Wednesday, June 14.

The rainfall which started around five in the morning made students who were already on their way to school, took u-turns for their various homes when it was dawned on them that roads leading to their school have been flooded.

Speaking on the flooding, a pastor and a resident whose church and shop were affected termed the flooding as a‘re-occurrence incident’.

According to him, the flood had been a major source of concern for residents in the areas.

He blamed the poor drainage systems in the area as a contributing factor to the flood.

There is no doubt that the flood will definitely have a devastating effect on schools in Warri as most parents may keep their wards away until the water level is low.

Meanwhile, the government is yet to come out with preventive measures.
