Ex-militants Give Kidnappers of Bayelsa Monarch Ultimatum

Despite efforts by soldiers of the three battalion Nigerian Army  in Warri to  keep  the Delta community of Kokori  free from remnants of kidnappers , after the arrest of suspected kidnap kingpin Kelvin Oniarah.

Ex-militants from the Urhobo speaking communities in the state have issued a 72-Hour ultimatum to abductors of highly respected monarch of  Peretorou  kingdom  in   Bayelsa state  HRH  Augustine  Ebikeme, who was  allegedly kidnapped  during his visit to Delta state along the
Kokori  community.

In a statement by the ex-militant commander Isreal  Akpodoro  who received the presidential amnesty in 2009, stated that the battle line has been drawn between  the abductors  of the monarch and the
ex-militants, and that  failure to release the monarch  within  three days time will lead to the invasion of the community.

He warned that since the last invasion of Kokori  community by soldiers which  led  to  the  chasing away of kidnappers from their den, should serve as a lesson to them, and that the ultimatum is not an empty threat as criminals are bent on giving the state a bad name.

On their part, the  Delta  police public relations officer Celestina Kalu  when contacted, said investigation is ongoing as they have not been briefed  on  the kidnap.

It will be recalled that the police had paraded suspected kidnappers believed to have abducted  the son of elder statesman  E.K. Clark, who were also arrested in the Kokori community in the state.
