Kano tribunal: INEC, Ganduje object to evidences provided by police

The governorship election Petition  Tribunal sitting in Kano state under the chairmanship of Justice Halima Shamaki on Monday received election documents from the Kano police command which were objected to by the defendants.

It would be recalled that Galaxy TV news reported last week that the tribunal ordered the state Police commissioner to provide some election documents at its disposal.

Counsels to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Umar Fari,  and that of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Musa Lawal objected to the admission of the documents arguing that they were not certified true copies.

Counsel to Abba Yusuf of the People's Democratic Party, Bashir Yusuf said the certified true copies of documents provided by the Police today are with INEC.

He said the main objective of the PDP is to show that elections took place at the contentious GAMA WARD and that there were no need for result cancellation and the subsequent bye-elections that gave Ganduje edge over the candidate of the PDP in the last governorship election in Kano state.

The tribunal has adjourned till tomorrow.
