Acting CJN promises to foster integrity within Judiciary

The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has vowed to ensure that petitions are dealt with speedily to foster integrity within the judiciary.

Justice Kekere-Ekun, a 1974 Queens College Alumnus and a Life Bencher pledged to do her best and uphold the integrity of the judiciary, the rule of law and defend the Constitution of Nigeria.
She made the vow during her appearance before the Senate on Wednesday for screening and confirmation as the substantial CJN.

Kekere Ekun made known her stance for integrity and discipline, promising to ensure zero tolerance for corruption, Kekere-Ekun assured.

She emphasized the need to insulate the judiciary and push for better welfare for judicial officers to ensure they perform at their optimal noting that, appointment of Judicial officers will also be stringently done.

The Acting CJN also called for improvement in the laws to enhance the nation's independence while underscoring the restriction in the number of cases presented to the Supreme Court. She particularly suggested that all pre-election cases should terminate at the Court of Appeal.
